Earlier this year, it looked like Team Obama had the winning formula to build the dominant political brand with slick online marketing, a heavily favored Democrat label and a boast that Obama was a new type of politician with bi-partisan support. But as the blogosphere exposed more and more about Obama, his team of marketing geniuses deviated from their successful script to counter the bad press. As each of these hare-brained rebuttal schemes blew up, they combined to support his opponent's long-standing assertion that Obama was a flim flam man with a Messiah complex who lacked the real world experience needed to lead the country. Who needs swift-boaters when the candidate is cut down by self-inflicted damage?
Here's a Top-10 list of New Coke Moments
1) Stop the Smears was set up on the web in June to dispel alleged false rumors. Not only did the site help to spread these rumors even wider, the site itself was rapidly exposed as based on false statements and questionable documents such as a dodgy birth certificateClarification
2) Obamacons was supposed to be the a broad-based group of right wing Republican conservatives that rejected their party in favor of Obama. Seemed unbelievable. It was a myth.
3) HOUND set up by Team Obama to fight PUMA...Ed Randall in charge. Disappeared after one weekend after much media fanfare. PUMA is stronger than ever and a key member of the Just say No Deal/Nobama coalition
4) Unity in Unity: We all know how that sham worked out. There's been zero change in the level of support for Obama from ex Clintonites. Rumors of a floor-fight in Denver continue to grow.
5) Republicans for Obama; DOA see exposure here!6) Evangelicals for Obama: Yeh right! Obama was ultimately rejected for his "fruit-cake interpretation of the Bible"
7) The Post-Racial candidate: Pastor Wright put 50 bullets, and then some, through the heart of that myth.
8) Obama's World Tour: led to a huge bounce in the polls...the European polls...but lost him polling points among US voters who were unimpressed by his presumptuous actions.
9) Obama's Its 3 am ad: Obama's ad responding to Clinton's lethal "Its 3 am" ad, did a fantastic job of drawing even more attention to Obama's inexperience
10) Obama's Presidential Seal: Obama wannabe seal was met with global derision and withdrawn with 48 hours.
My reference to New Coke Moments has nothing what so ever to do with Obama's old coke moments which occured when he snorted cocaine in High School. Obviously.
