The more you get to know Senator Obama the more you realize that underneath his good looks and high powered rhetoric there is a side to his personality that his biographer David Mendell, a Chicago Tribune journalist who followed Obama for the past four years, described in his 2007 biography as "his imperious, mercurial, self-righteous and sometimes prickly nature, each quality exacerbated by the enormous career pressures that he has inflicted upon himself." For those of you without immediate access to a dictionary and who, like me, need a refresher on one or two words used by David Mendell:

Imperious: Arrogantly domineering or overbearing
Mercurial: Quick and changeable in temperament; volatile:
Self-righteous: Exhibiting pious self-assurance
Prickly: cocky a-hole prone to irritate!

Sometimes these character flaws come out in the form of astonishing arrogance. How many could believe the conceit of a man that could the TV cameras in the eye and announce nonchalantly, "I'm confident I'll get Mrs Clinton's vote, I'm not sure she'll get mine."

Another area where we see The Arrogant One in action is the frequent Grand Canyon between what he says and what he does. I'm not just talking about saying one thing in a political debate but ultimately voting for, or advocating, a different position...that's the political process...if politicians never shifted positions why bother doing research, writing position papers and having democrat debates? What I am talking about is far worse. Its when Obama condemns people for doing something BUT does it himself, or selectively fails to condemn his friends who do it. That is the worst form of hypocrisy.
